Microneedling

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a procedure that creates micro-trauma perforations to the skin. This triggers the body's natural repair mechanism to produce collagen and elastin to repair the perforations. Three to four treatments spaced one month apart are recommended and results last about a year.

Benefits of Microneedling:

  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles

  • Lifts, tightens, rejuvenates skin

  • Minimizes pore size

  • Improves appearance of stretch marks

  • Improves appearance of scars

Preprocedure care and precautions:

  • Discontinue use of retinoids, vitamin A, vitamin C, or any other anti-aging products for 7 days

  • Do not consume blood thinning products such as Aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, Ibuprofen, St. John's Wort, and Omega -3 for 7 days before procedure

  • Avoid tweezing, waxing, bleaching or use of depilatory creams

  • No botox or similar neurotoxins for 7 days

  • No fillers within the last 28 days

  • No IPL, Laser, Fraxek treatments within the last 28 days

  • No moderate facial peels within the last 14 days

  • No deep facial peels within the last 28 days

Day of procedure:

Come into your appointment with a clean face. No makeup, creams, gels, or lotions to the treatment area. A topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area for 30 minutes. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes (60-90 minutes including numbing time).

Post Procedure:

You can expect to be red, swollen, and feel very warm after your procedure. A post-procedure mask is available to purchase, decreasing down time, cooling the skin, and expediting the healing process. As your skin heals, it will feel rough and dry but will continue to smooth and soften as the days progress. Some peeling may also occur. Please use a gentle cleanser at bedtime when washing your face. You may use a light moisturizer and sunscreen the next day. You can return to wearing regular makeup 2-3 days post procedure. Remember that it is important to apply sunscreen EVERYDAY and wear a hat when in the sun, especially during the healing process to prevent PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation).

Day 1: Erythema and redness compared to a moderate sunburn, some minor swelling, and pinpoint bleeding.

Day 2: Erythema and redness begins to subside.

Day 3: Skin takes on a pink color

Day 1-3: Skin will be very dry and tight, moderate skin flaking is normal
